Emergency Start Procedures Emergency start procedures use a vehicle specific code which must be obtained using the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), the Immobilzer Serial Number (ISN), the Engine Control Unit (ECU) Serial Number or a combination of two of these. These vehicle specific codes can be programmed into the vehicle using the brake, the odometer counter reset button or the trip odometer reset button, depending on the vehicle, and a combination of other procedures. We have only been able to identify six (6) vehicles with the emergency start procedure for transponder equipped vehicles. Of these six (6) vehicles, two (2) require the vehicle VIN and four (4) require the ISN (immobilizer serial number) or the ECU (electronic control unit) serial number. All vehicles would still require a properly cut mechanical key to rotate the ignition lock or the ignition lock to be physically defeated in order to operate the vehicle. Acura – VIN Audi – ISN & VIN (immobilizer serial number) Honda – VIN Mitsubishi – ECU serial number Porsche – No available public information VW – ECU serial number It should be noted that we have found no domestic vehicles with the emergency start procedures.
